Join me at a fundraiser to support both an organization and a candidate that inspire me - Democratic Congressman Jamaal Bowman and the Movement Voter Project (MVP).

There will be food, drinks, a fun activity, and other people who care about the world and democracy. Both Congressmember Bowman and a representative from Movement Voter Project will attend. AND, you can donate $25 to MVP (or multiples of $25) to be enterred in the raffle to win Julie Peppito’s drawing “We Are In Danger” which retails for $2100.

Movement Voter Project is a national organization that supports efforts to build long-term political power in key communities all over the US by registering and empowering voters. They provide technical and financial support to state and local voter enfranchisement groups such as Black Voters Matter. Here is a two-minute explainer video about their strategy to win in 2024 and to lay the groundwork for future wins and for more progressive policies within the Democratic Party.  

Congressman Jamal Bowman is a Democrat currently serving in NY State's 16th District. He is a former teacher, school principal and education advocate from a working-class background and a progressive.  He is a climate and affordable housing champion in addition to being an education leader. He is being primaried by a AIPAC & GOP funded Democrat whose main funding comes from Republican billionaires who oppose many of Bowman's policy stances, including his support of a ceasefire in Gaza. 

With anti-choice, pro-fossil fuel, racist and pro-war Republicans pouring money into efforts to unseat progressives and disenfranchise Black voters, these two causes are essential to ensuring this election isn’t a disaster for democracy, human rights and the planet.
